This symbol 'ø' stands for diameter, which means that the pipe in question is, in this case, 12 millimeters in diameter. PVC pipes are distinguished in several measures in relation to this.

Another fact that must be taken into account when buying a PVC pipe, whether transparent or not, is what the PN designates. As you can see, in the example that we have given you, PN16 appears. This means that the maximum allowable bar pressure for this pipe is 16. We can find transparent PVC pipes with PN10, PN4, etc.

There is one more piece of information that you can find in the name of a pipe, which is PE, this means that the pipe is made of polyethylene and not PVC, both things are different. Polyethylene, for example, is less resistant to changes in temperature and other factors to take into account.

In which cases is the use of transparent PVC pipes recommended?

Transparent PVC pipes are mainly used in places where chemicals are used. On the one hand, PVC is very resistant, which makes it ideal for transporting items of this type. On the other hand, the fact that it is transparent allows you to see the chemical product that is being transported, which is a good advantage.
