ALKALINE BATTERY

Description of ALKALINE BATTERY

The 9V alkaline battery or alkaline battery is suitable for TORO, GALCON, REGABER and TISU-TEAM programmers. The alkaline battery obtains its energy from the chemical reaction between zinc, acting as an anode, and manganese dioxide (MnO2), as a cathode, and using potassium hydroxide as an electrolyte.

Alkaline cells and batteries use potassium hydroxide (KOH) as the electrolyte, rather than chloride (ammonium chloride or zinc chloride) as in saline cells (or zinc-carbon batteries) which offer the same nominal voltage and the same physical size. Other cell and battery systems also use alkaline electrolytes, but use different active materials in the electrodes.

Compared to saline batteries (zinc-carbon, Leclanché, or later zinc chloride), while all produce about 1,5 volts per cell or cell, alkaline batteries have a higher energy density and longer life. longer.

Compared to silver oxide batteries, which alkaline batteries typically compete with in the button format, they have lower energy density and shorter life, but are also lower in cost.

The capacity of an alkaline battery is greater than that of a Leclanché battery or a zinc chloride battery of the same size, because the anode material is purer and denser manganese dioxide, and the space occupied by internal components, such as the collectors current is less. An alkaline battery can provide three to five times the operating time.
