Gibault joints are the most basic elements, although no less effective, for joining smooth ends in PVC pipes.
They are inexpensive, provide good sealing, and are capable of absorbing the driving movements produced by pressure variations, expansions / contractions due to temperature changes and even small displacements caused by the settlement of the ground.
As they are made of gray cast iron, they present a greater resistance to breakage when tightening, which avoids unpleasant surprises inside the trench.
The greater thickness of the wall of the central bushing prolongs the useful life of the joint and improves the tightness, (this is where the rubber rests).
Its extra length provides greater tolerance in assembly and an additional guarantee against pipe displacements.
They are used, above all, to repair existing pipes by replacing the damaged segment with another of the same diameter, although somewhat shorter, to absorb possible expansions.
