TEFLON

Description of TEFLON

El Teflon is an adhesive tape that is applied to the threads and joints of union accessories to avoid water leaks in pipes and stopcocks. Get the joints between pipes, stopcocks, taps, sleeves, buttresses, reductions or others to be watertight.

It is necessary to make several turns on the thread so that the Teflon tape is fixed and insulated.

It resists humidity and high temperatures without losing its properties. It does not add chemicals to fluids and makes it difficult for bacteria to form. It is effective against oxidation, protects the threads so that they remain in good condition, and their behavior against the passage of time.

It is a material that ages well, hardly deteriorating, breaking or hardening.

It is placed in threads and pipes made of plastic, iron, steel ... In most cases, it is wound in the opposite direction to the direction of the thread, that is, to the right. Only a small proportion of threads are set from right to left, in which case the Teflon is wound to the left.

It is sold in roll form, in different sizes (different widths and thicknesses). The dimensions of the Teflon determine the type of joint in which it is rolled, as well as the number of turns to be made.

Avoid overlapping the tape in layers. It must be spread firmly over the entire area, from the beginning of the thread. Previously, it can be sanded to improve grip.

The number of turns that is given to the tape depends on the width and the thickness, although in general between 20 and 25 turns are necessary.
